Many common geckos are member of this family, including house geckos (Hemidactylus), true geckos (Gekko), day geckos (Phelsuma), and dtellas (Gehyra). They evolved probably in the Lower Cretaceous and some 100 million years ago they were already well adapted for a scansorial lifestyle.
