All-optical logic OR and AND gates for NRZ-OOK signals based on four-wave mixing in a silicon waveguide

In this paper, we report a scheme to achieve an all-optical multiple-functionlogic unit including OR and AND gates for 10 Gb/s nonreturn-to-zero on- off-keying(NRZ-OOK) signals based on four-wave mixingin a silicon waveguide. The functions of the logic OR and AND gates are demonstrated simultaneously using 10-bit OOK sequences. The eye diagrams of the OR and AND signals are realized experimentally as the incident signals are both modulated by OOK sequences originating from 2 31 -1 pseudorandombinary
