Locating Lightning Arrester Counters in UAV Inspection Video of Overhead Transmission Lines

UAV (Unmanned aerial vehicle) is widely used in high voltage transmission lines inspection presently. Aiming at the problem of lightning arrester counters automatic recognition in UAV inspection videos, this paper proposes an image recognition solution based on deep learning, and designs a lightning arrester counter automatic recognition system. The designed automatic recognition system detects and locates the region of the arrester counters in the UAV inspection video firstly, and then recognizes the meter reading in the located region. This paper focus on the target detection and location of arrester counter in UAV inspection videos. The results show that deep learning algorithm can accurately locate the regions of the arrester counters in the images, and lay a foundation for the subsequent meter reading recognition.
