Rotor Design and Aerodynamic Simulation of a Coaxial Rotor Aircraft

Based on the concept of a small coaxial rotor aircraft, a new type of blade made from cylinder is designed in this paper. The folding blades can wrap the aircraft properly and form an integral cylinder, which is easy to store and carry. With these blades, the aircraft will be easy to be stored in the cylindrical chamber. The cylindrical wall makes the aircraft work closely with the cartridge. This structural consideration is the original intention of designing the rotor. In order to make such cylindrical blades, the first step is to design the airfoil, then to design the wingspan, and finally to optimize the chord length of the entire rotor. In the whole design process, the aerodynamic performance and engineering practice are considered. Finally, a new type of blade with greater thrust, high energy conversion rate and low power consumption, high load is determined. :KDW¶V PRUH WKLV EODGH KDV WKH characteristics as follows: high stability, low cost and simple and reliable structure. The CFD fluid simulation and physical experiment verify the rationality of the design. This blade has the advantages of simple machining method, superior performance and great theoretical and engineering value.
