Culture and Community Mechanism of Ethnic Villages: An Investigation Based on Miao and Dong Ethnic Groups in Qiandongnan Prefecture

Community theory provides a theoretical framework to forest management in ethnic villages.As the actual forest managers,ethnic village community has inherited some of the currently feasible community values on forest management. These values are highlighted by the attributes of ethnic village communities such as their common living space and cultural values,customs and beliefs,social ties,reciprocity mechanism,and social reputational system. All these functions of forest management are interpreted by the community theory. The value of forest culture based on community is worth emphasizing and approving. What is more,under new circumstances,new incentives need to be awarded to communities in forest management.
