Radioactivity and Penetrating Power of Nuclear Radiation

2016
In this chapter, we primarily discuss radioactivity, the process by which an unstable nucleus loses energy by emitting radiation. First we illustrate the main types of decays (alpha, beta, gamma, internal conversion, electron capture, nucleon emission and fission), then we discuss the radioactive decay law, decay rates, mean lifetimes of isotopes, radioactive families and sequential decays.
