Fluorescence imaging system with fibre optic coupling plate and interference filter

An imaging system for fluorescence assays includes a fibre optic coupling plate 56,78 for transmitting radiation emitted by a sample to a camera 16 via an interference filter 22 which enables highly sensitive transmission according to wavelength. The coupling plate may be comprised of fibre optic bundles 56 held in place by opaque plastic plates 78. The coupling plate may include a magnifying section 62 in which the fibres taper from the output end to the input end. An additional fibre optic plate 76, a lens (68, fig.4) or an angle collimating plate (88, fig 6) may be positioned between the interference filter 22 and the camera 16.
