Right and left circular polarized wave antenna for small satellite

This paper reports the design of an antenna system with right and left circularly polarized wave horn antenna and polarization separator and coaxial waveguide converter. When we design the horn antenna, we cut groove inside antenna to generate TM 11 mode. When we designed polarization separator, we focus on electric field vector at cross section of rectangular waveguide feed, because it affects phase delay in the travel direction. The mutual coupling effect between horn antenna and polarization separator with coaxial waveguide converter is verified to be negligible. We designed the system to operate in X-Band (8.2 GHz center frequency) over bandwidth of 400 MHz. It shows 17 dBi minimum gain (aperture diameter is 3.2 λ ) and -40 dB maximum cross-polarization distortion. The innovative point at this paper is comparison when we simulate complete model and independent model and we confirm mutual coupling effect is negligible (Fig.15.).
