Correlation Analysis of Electro-acupuncture Effect and Immune Regulators in Treatment of Sciatica

2012
Objective To observe the regularity of electro-acupuncture effect in the treatment of sciatica, analyze the correlation of electro-acupuncture effect,TCM syndrome and immune regulators in the treatment of sciatica. Methods A total of 105 sciaticapatients were treated by electro-acupuncture on bilateral Jiaji(EX-B2),and Huantiao(GB30) and Weizhong(BL39) on the affected side. The patients were classified according to TCM syndromes before treatment.During the treatment, some immune regulators were detected and the relation between electro-acupuncture effect of sciaticaand changes of immune regulators were analyzed. Results After treatment, among 105 sciaticapatients,82 cases(78.10%) were effective and 23 cases(21.90%) were ineffective. The disease course of ineffective group was longer than the effective group, and cases of deficiency syndrome of liver and kidney were more than those in effective group. At the treatment of day 2,modified Japanese Orthopaedics Association Low Back Pain Score(M-JOA) of effective group was improved significantly. After treated for 5 days,interleukin-2(IL-2) increased and cortisol(COR) decreased in the effective group. The improvement rate of M-JOA was positively related with IL-2 level and negetively related with COR level(P 0.05).Conclusion Electro-acupuncture had effective results on treatment of sciatica. The effective result was related with IL-2,COR,course of the disease and TCM syndrome.
