The multifaceted role of Notch signal in regulating T cell fate

Abstract Notch signaling pathwayfacilitates important cellular functions of the host. Notchsignal is essential for the development of T cells, and the role of Notchin fine tuningof αβ versus γδ T celllineage commitment is fundamentally different in mice and human. The Notchfamily of cell surface receptorlikewise plays a critical role in regulating T cellactivation, and influences T cellresponse both intrinsically and through the local environment. In this review, we take an overview of Notch signaling pathwayand also emphasize the role of Notchsignal in T celllineage differentiation and activating effector function of peripheral T cells.
