CONFLICTOS SOCIOAMBIENTALES Y SERVICIOS ECOSISTÉMICOS EN LA CUENCA DEL RÍO OROTOY: REFLEXIONES PARA SU GESTIÓN

Abstract This document presents an analysis of socio-environmental conflicts associated with the use and access of ecosystem services in the Orotoy river basin (Meta, Colombia). To do this, we conducted (1) an identification of the socio – ecological system, (2) a characterization of stakeholders, (3) a participatory ecosystem services identification, (4) an analysis of landscape transformation and its implications on the provision of ecosystem services, (5) an analysis of the dependence and influence of stakeholders on these services and (6) a structured synthesis of the socio-environmental conflicts and governance issues. As a conclusion, understanding access, use and historic change on ecosystems allows us to infer provision dynamics of ecosystem services and landscape transformation drivers. With this information, we can identify early warnings associated to land use trends, changes and possible adaptation mechanisms for environmental change.
