Clustered beams of light gases as internal target

Abstract An internal target consisting of a beam of light gases is presented. This apparatus is based on the modifications to the cooling and pumping system of an already existing device. Clusterization in O 2 , N 2 and H 2 is obtained with jet densities up to 2 × 10 14 molecules/cm 2 but no evidence of He condensation is observed even at the minimum available nozzle temperature.
