THE COMMUNITY TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT FUND

1999
The Community Transportation Development Fund (CTDF) was created in 1989 as a low interest loan fund for the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) to provide financial assistance to rural transportation operators. The funds are available to CTAA members and nonmembers, but the applicant must meet the following two eligibility guidelines: the project must serve a rural area, outside of any incorporated area with a population over 25,000; and the project should benefit low-income or disadvantaged persons in the service area. Once qualified the project funds can be used to improve, expand, or start a local transit service, or for purchase, construction or operating expenses, generally, to promote rural transportation.
