Optical design of an atmospheric dispersion compensator for the DAG-AO system

2020
We present the DAG-AO Atmospheric Dispersion Compensator optical design. This ADC is for the visible natural guide star WFS and is composed of a 2-doublet Amici prisms. The wavelength range is defined by the WFS camera spectral range 500-900 nm. The choice of glasses has been optimised in order to reduce the residual chromatic dispersion. The DAG-AO is based on a Pyramid WFS so the ADC is inserted on either side of the tip-tilt modulation mirror (which is in a pupil plane). The beam goes to the pyramid apex and a relay lens images the pupil on the CCD. We present the results at the focal plane and how to compensate for the remaining pupil nutation with a triplet imaging lens. The design has been done using a python package for Zemax PyZDDE.
