Analysis of lightning strike to an imbedded electronic enclosure based on a scale model test setup

It was necessary to place electronic equipment imbedded into the fuselageof a plane so that the top of the equipment enclosurewas flush with the fuselageon either side. The equipment contained an antenna mounted on top of a metal enclosurecontaining the electronics. Both the antenna and metal enclosureare enveloped in a waterproofnon-conductive enclosure. The concern is that either a direct lightning strikeor the high E and H fields associated with a nearby strike will damage or disrupt the electronics.
