Neurocognitive outcomes of HIV-associated tuberculous meningitis dataset

2021
Data collected as part of the “High dose oral and intravenous rifampicin for improved survival from adult tuberculous meningitis” (RIFT) study, a phase 2 open-label randomized trial (ISRCTN42218549). It contains information obtained from 36 patients who were diagnosed with TB meningitis and enrolled between January 14 and December 17, 2019 at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital in Kampala, Uganda. Variables include baseline clinical and laboratory results, as well as clinical statuses, functional statuses, results of depression screening, and detailed neurocognitive assessment of across motor and cognitive domains at 8 and 24 weeks of follow up. Results of neurocognitive tests are reported both as raw scores and as Z-scores standardized to a cohort of HIV-negative Ugandan age- and education-matched controls. Data access is restricted in compliance with conditions outlined in the study protocol and ethics approvals. Data will only be shared with researchers and doctors for use in limited conditions (e.g. to inform dosage and route of administration of rifampicin) and requires written approval by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) or study sponsor.
