Neutron camera that uses the row and column summations

2013
For each photomultiplier tube in a Anger camera, a R x S array is provided by pre-amplifiers to detect electrons that are generated in the photomultiplier tube. The outputs of the preamplifier are digitized to measure the size of the signals from each preamplifier. For each photomultiplier tube a corresponding summing circuit with R row summation circuits and S column summation circuits performs a numerical addition of the signals of preamplifiers for each row and each column to generate histograms. For a P x Q array of photomultiplier tubes P × Q summation circuits P x Q number of histograms produced with R entries and P × Q columns histograms with S entries. The entire set of histograms includes P x Q x (R + S) messages, which are analyzed by a position calculating unit to determine the positions of the events (capture of a neutron).
