DELPHI TPC project

The specific choice of an atmospheric medium size TPC for the DELPHIdetector is discussed and the specifications and design are described. The expected performance is studied in detail on the basis of measurements and simulation. First results from prototypes for the electronics, field cage and sector plates are presented.
