Wiskott-Aldrich-Syndrome(WAS) is a rare X-linked recessive disease caused by mutations of the WAS gene. It is characterized by immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, low numbers of small platelets (microthrombocytopenia) and a high risk of cancer, especially B cell lymphomaand leukemia.
