Nitro- and Oxygenated PAHs

PAH derivatives like nitrated and oxygenated PAHs are of growing concern because these polar derivatives are able to produce more direct adverse health outcome. In the measurement on emissions from crop residue and coal combustions, four oxygenated PAHs (oPAHs) were analyzed, and in the later wood combustion experiment, not only four oPAHs but 12 nitrated PAHs (nPAHs) were measured. Gas-particle partitioning of the derivatives, size distribution of particle-bound derivatives and the relationship between parent PAHs and the derivatives were discussed.
