INTERVENTION STUDY TO PROMOTE SLEEP AND MENTAL HEALTH OF JAPANESE UNIVERSITY ATHLETES AND INFANTS ESPECIALLY FOCUSING ON INTAKE of COW MILK AT BREAKFAST

2016
Cow milkis an important supplying of protein resources for human infants and sports athletes because it is easy to be taken and possible for vegetarians. There is one research example to show the relationship between cow milkcontents and sleep. Guesdon et al. (2006) reported that the casein hydrolysatecould promote the sleep of rats. In this study, rats were exposed to chronic stressin the form of environmental disturbances, while some of them took the aS1-casein hydrolysate(CH) as content of foods. Sleep duration in control rats was reduced during the first 2 days of the stress period. However, the stress-induced sleep disturbance was prevented in the CH-treated rats which showed longer slow wave sleepin NON-REM sleep and also slight longer REM sleep than the control rats. 9-22
