Music and music therapy in the management of behavioral disorders in dementia

Music and music therapy (MT) are un animously accepted as an important nonpharmacological resource for the management of behavioral and psychiatric symptoms of dementia (BPSDs). The relevant literature testifies to the effectiveness of specific musical and music therapeutic techniques in a number of well-structured and methodologically rigorous studies [1,2]. The following relevant considerations can be derived from the literature:
