Linear polarization and K magnitudes of selected visual double stars

1976
Observations of visual binary stars selected on the basis of the age estimated for the primary component are presented. On the assumption that the double (or multiple) stars were physically associated, a fraction of the faint companions were expected to be pre-main-sequence stars. The observations consisted of linear polarization measurements in the blue spectral region, and infrared photometry. The number of stars observed was very limited, and in no case were any obvious pre-main-sequence characteristics revealed.
