Study of the photon remnant in resolved photoproduction at HERA

1995
Photoproduction at HERA has been studied in ep collisions, with the ZEUS detector for {gamma}p center of mass energies ranging from 130-250 GeV, using over 400,000 events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of more than 500 nb{sup {minus}1}. A sample of events with two high p{sub T} jets and a third jet in the direction of the electron beam have been examined. These events are predominantly due to resolved photoproduction. The third jet is associated with the photon remnant. The photon remnant is found to have properties similar to the high-p{sub T} jets from hard scattering, but exhibits higher transverse momenta than is expected from Leading Order QCD Monte Carlo simulations.
