The effects of excipients in Nilstat vaginal antifungals on the tensile properties of latex rubber. (non-author abstract)

Minimal change was detected in the properties of rubber latex when exposed to the Nilstat Vaginal Cream. The tensile strength of latex rubber is lowered by some amount, but there appears to be no detectable reduction in the % elongation. The tensile properties of rubber latex are dramatically reduced when exposed to the Nilstat Cream Pessary bulk suspension. It is highly likely that this is due to the presence of soft white paraffin.
