Re-Imagining the Situation of Sex Workers after the COVID-19 Pandemic

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, India has witnessed a large surge of healthcare emergencies. However, among every work opportunity failure that result in job losses of millions, the least attention was given to the members of the sex worker community who faces new vulnerabilities caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and alienation from the government’s initiatives. It’s been a year since the first lockdown and recently we faced the second wave of COVID-19 the sex workers are the section of the population left with no money to sustain themselves and their family members. Globally sex workers have lost their work due to lockdown that further hits their sole income source and have limited job opportunities to engage in other formal occupations and had to compromise their homes during multiple lockdowns to contain COVID-19 which has affected 800,000 sex workers
