The role of nutrition in the diagnosis and treatment of severe liver disease

Nutrition plays a vital role in the organism. Nutritional deficiency is ubiquitous under the disease states, especially in patients with severe liver disease, which is also an independent risk factor for the survival rate of such patients. For the purpose of drawing the attention of clinicians, as well as improving the prognosis of patients with severe liver disease, the relevant definitions, causes of malnutrition in patients with liver diseases and interventions are discussed in this article.
