Review of the genus Burmomiles Fanti, Damgaard & Ellenberger from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber (Coleoptera, Cantharidae)

2021
Abstract The genus †Burmomiles was reviewed. A morphological character of antennae is corrected for B. willerslevorum and B. blixenae; i.e. antennal branches are inserted in the ventrobasal cavities of antennomeres IV‒X, not in the apices of III‒IX. Three new species from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber are described and illustrated, B. oblongoculus sp. nov., B. bilineatimaculatus sp. nov., and B. laticollis sp. nov. Thus, the number of species increased from two to five in this genus. With more species included, the diagnosis of the genus was re-summarised. A key for the identification of all Burmomiles species is provided.
