Introduction: Understanding the formation processes of BDs and PMOs cannot be accomplished until a statistically significant population of such objects can be identified. Searches have been initiated using broadband photometry [1], [2], [3]; however, the extinction vector tends to lie parallel to spectral type, leading to degeneracy between late spectral types and reddening. Extinction makes using the I, Z, and J bands difficult in dense young clusters. The very low luminosities of young BDs and PMOs [4] make spectroscopy difficult even with the largest telescopes. L dwarfs are characterized by the appearance of strong H2O absorption (Teff ≤ 2000 K), and T dwarfs show the onset of CH4 (Teff < 1400 K). By selecting a
