The role of protein S-acylation in cardiac function

2021
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the umbrella term for conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels and remains the leading cause of death worldwide. New therapeutic strategies to aid in the prevention and treatment of CVD are therefore necessary. This article discusses the potential for S-acylation, a post-translational protein modification, to be used as a therapeutic target for CVD primarily affecting cardiac function.
