Gene polymorphisms associated with acne

2012
Acne is a most common chronic inflammation disease of the pilosebaceous gland with a variety of clinical presentations.Excessive androgen and inflammation play an important role in the pathogenesis of acne. The etiology of acne remains unanswered, and multiple studies have indicated that hereditary factors contribute to the susceptibility to acne.It has been revealed that androgen receptor gene,CYPllα gene,CYP17A1 gene and TNFα gene are related with the development of acne. This paper presents advances in the relationship between acne and polymorphisms in both androgen related genes and inflammation-mediating genes. Key words: Acne vulgaris; Androgens; Inflammation; Genes
