Development of the Toyota 1CD-FTV-type diesel engine with common rail system

1999
Toyota has developed a new 2.0-Iiter turbo-charged direct injection diesel engine, named as 1CD-FTV, for the medium-low class passenger car, the Toyota Avensis. The Common Rail System, which will likely be the leading fuel injection system in the future, has been newly developed and installed. Other basic features are 4 valve/cylinder, direct DOHC, exactly central perpendicular injector, and small bore-long stroke. These and the Common Rail System have realized high performance, low fuel consumption, low exhaust emission, and low engine vibration and noise. (author)
