Simulation study of a proximity focusing Cherenkov counter for the AMS experiment
2000
The principle of proximity focusing Ring Imaging Cherenkov counters (RICH) is briefly reviewed. The event reconstruction technique is discussed and applied to evaluating the performances for ion and light particle identification, of a counter for the AMS spectrometer to fly aboard the future International Space Station ISS. Several radiator options are investigated and simulation results are reported and discussed.
