Photoluminescence of PbWO4 single crystals
1996
Photoluminescence of lead tungstate and its time evolution at different temperatures and excitation conditions were investigated to identify the mechanisms of radiative and nonradiative recombination in this scintillation crystal. Two centers responsible for short-wavelength emission were revealed and characterized. The results indicated the energy transfer between different centers to be of great importance. Red luminescence was shown to be useful for quality control of comparatively perfect crystals.
