AUTOMANEJO EN ENFERMEDADES CRÓNICAS: DIABETES MELLITUS TIPO 2, HIPERTENSIÓN ARTERIAL Y CÁNCER SELF MANAGEMENT IN CHRONIC DISEASES: TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS, HYPERTENSION AND CANCER

The aim was to describe the characteristics of self-management of chronic illness in their adherence, knowledge, management of signs and symptoms in people with mellitus diabetes, hypertension and cancer. The population were users of health centers Micro Network Lima city, who reported developing diabetes mellitus type 2, hypertension and cancer patients, users of Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital, all of them were aged over 18 years old. It was an exploratory Design. A total of 562 people were selected: 400 users diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and hypertension, four health centers and 162 users diagnosed with cancer from the chemotherapy service of the hospital. It was applied the instrument "Self-Management Partners in Health Scale". The results show poor self-management of their disease, with an average overall rate of 69, 65 in knowledge, and 69 in signs and symptoms as well as gender differences in terms of knowledge of the disease, presence of problems of order physical, emotional and social well being of greater emotional and social references, confirming the importance of a holistic approach, promoting self-management of emotional symptoms and adherence of compliance with taking medication as well as communication between the patient and physician. It is suggested to further investigate the behavior of self-management in chronic diseases.
