A pulsed field neutron diffractometer for studying field-induced phase transitions
1995
Abstract A pulsed field neutron diffractometer is described which allows to study the field dependent phase transition of antiferromagnetic samples within a few milliseconds in a ‘single-shot’ experiment. Its proper operation is demonstrated at a MnF 2 single crystal whose antiparallel spin alignment is broken up at a critical field of 9.3 T at 4.2 K.
