Progress Report on an Ultra-compact LumiCal

A new design of the detector module of submillimeter thickness for an electromagnetic calorimeteris presented. It is aimed to be used in the luminosity measuring calorimetersLumiCal and BeamCal in future linear electron-positron colliderexperiments. The module prototypes were produced utilizing different technologies for their assembly. They are installed in a compact prototype of the calorimeterand tested at DESYwith an electron beam of 1 GeV-6 GeV. The beam tests allowed to study the performance of the new detector modules and to investigate the possibility of electron photon identification in the forward region of e$^{+}$e$^{-}$ colliderexperiments.
