Starting with the beginnings of nuclear research in Switzerland, which can be traced to the Institute of Physics of the ETHZ (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), and dealing with the 1955 Geneva Conference, the book describes the building of the first reactor in Switzerland at the former EIR, as well as the building of and accident in the experimental Lucens nuclear power station. This is followed by accounts of the building of the Swiss nuclear power stations Beznau, Muehleberg, Goesgen and Leibstadt. The book concludes with a chronology and summary of the Swiss history of nuclear energy in both French and English. figs., refs.
