A new calibrated chamber for parametric studies of radon and thoron gases
1995
Abstract A new environmental
radonchamber has been designed, constructed, and tested by our group. The design was evolved in order to meet the needs of several different
radondetection techniques, both active and passive. The
radonactivity concentration of the
barrelwas determined by cross calibration against the standard
radonchamber at the UK National Radiological Protection Board with known activity concentration, using the
Lucas cellscintillation method. The
radonactivity concentration inside the
barrelwas found to be about 90 kBqm −3 .
