Airborne geophysical survey for water resources planning, a case history, Bromölla, Southern Sweden

2021
Summary One of the major groundwater resources in Sweden is found in the sedimentary bedrock of the Kristianstad plain in Southern Sweden. It is the main resource for water supply in several municipalities in the region. During 2020 WSP has, on behalf of the Bromolla Energy and Water Ltd, processed and interpreted the airborne geophysical survey data from the Bromolla area. The primary aim was to identify possible areas of groundwater extraction. By combining the interpretation of the thickness of the main aquifer, the thickness of interpreted fine material in the soil layers and the interpreted soil depth from the airborne geophysical survey data, a map has been produced that shows where the best interpreted conditions are for groundwater abstraction.
