Effect of road undulation on the propagation characteristics of inter-vehicle communications in the 60 GHz band

2005
This paper presents the effect of undulations in the road on the propagation characteristics in the LOS case for IVC in the 60 GHz band The received power is calculated by the 2-wave model, in which variations in the amplitude and phase shift of the road-reflected wave caused by road undulation are taken into consideration. The effectiveness of the proposed model was confirmed by a propagation test between vehicles with fixed positions. Finally, the received power when the communicating vehicles move on an undulating road is estimated using the model and this is validated by measurement.
