High-Resolution Data Grids to Assess Urban Density and Environmental Quality: The Case of São Paulo City

2021
This work takes advantage of a very high-resolution LiDAR building footprint of the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in combination with land use and demographic information to derive spatial data grids and assess populational density and employments density. Urban tree cover, also obtained from LiDAR data, was used to calculate percentage of public areas with tree cover. All data were coerced into a low-dimensional data cube to provide insights on urban land use intensity and environmental quality in Sao Paulo city.
