Rapid removal of methyl orange by a UV Fenton-like reaction using magnetically recyclable Fe-oxalate complex prepared with rice husk
2019
Abstract Porous Fe-
oxalatecomplexes were prepared by thermally treating iron sources and rice
husksunder nitrogen gas
purging. Fe
oxidation statesof 0, 2.5+, and 3+ in the complex were identified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, which were oxidized into ferrites and separated by the magnet after removal of
methyl orange. The Fe-
oxalatecomplex treated at 700 °C exhibited the strongest magnetic properties, and its catalytic ability to remove 100 ppm of
methyl orangewas optimized after 60 min. In conclusion, the
oxalateions in Fe-
oxalatecomplex could promote the decomposition of organic compounds accelerating the OH radical generation in a UV Fenton-like system.
