Communication and Our Spiritual Home

More than three decades have lapsed since Western communication theories and research methods entered China. Several decades have passed since the first National Academic Conference on Communication was held in 1982. While teaching communication theory and research, I have perused quite a number of theoretical writings and research literature published at home and abroad and found that Chinese scholars, in their effort to import communication theories, have imperceptibly accepted the assumption on “Western superiority” imbedded in Western theories.
