Association of the MMP-3 5A/6A gene polymorphism with multiple sclerosis in Han nationality of Henan

Objective To investigate the possible association of MMP-3 5A/6A gene polymorphismwith multiple sclerosis(MS)in Han nationality.Methods MMP-3 5A/6A gene polymorphismswere analyzed in 51 MS patients(MS group)and 55 healthy people(control group)with polymerase chain reaction(PCR)-ligase detection reaction(LDR)technology.Results There was no significant differences in allelic frequenciesand the distribution of genotype of MMP-3 gene between the patients and controls.Conclusion No marked association could be found between 5A/6A polymorphism in MMP-3 gene and MS susceptibility.
