Mantener una revista en condiciones adversasCuando estamos al frente de una revista cientifica, que ocupa un puesto importante en la categoria mundial de publicaciones cientificas y se presenta una situacion adversa que conduce a enlentecer los procesos de recepcion, evaluacion, correccion y finalmente publicacion, es cuando nos damos cuenta de la responsabilidad que hemos asumido al aceptar continuar en esa tarea. Este ano 2019 ha sido particularmente dificil para el pais, Venezuela, y por ende para la Universidad que es nuestra sede y a la cual pertenecen los miembros del Comite Editorial de Investigacion Clinica. Conflictos sociales, politicos y economicos, han llevado a que todos los servicios publicos hayan colapsado y con ello la decision de gran numero de profesores universitarios de emigrar a otros paises en busqueda de seguridad social y economica. Esta diaspora de distinguidos profesionales se ha llevado a muchos de nuestros colaboradores. Aunque desde su destino final traten de ayudarnos, la deficiente comunicacion a que esta sometido el pais con fallas severas en el servicio electrico, telefonico e internet, ha conducido a un retraso importante en la busqueda de arbitros para la revision de los trabajos, en la respuesta a los autores que han confiado en Investigacion Clinica para publicar sus resultados y finalmente hasta en la edicion de la revista. Sin embargo, estando cercanos a cumplir 60 anos de publicacion ininterrumpida, hacemos todos los esfuerzos a nuestro alcance para que podamos mantener la calidad cientifica y la periodicidad exigida por los indices internacionales, ahora primordialmente en la forma de edicion digital. Solo esperamos que nuestros colaboradores, arbitros y autores sepan comprender la situacion y confien en nuestro trabajo.Publishing the journal under adverse conditionsWhen we are at the forefront of a scientific journal that occupies an important position in the world ranking of scientific publications, and this suffers an adverse situation that leads to slowing the processes of reception, evaluation, correction and finally, publication, is when one becomes aware of the responsibility that has been assumed to continue with this task. This year 2019, has been particularly difficult for Venezuela, and therefore for the university that is our home and to which the members of the Editorial Board of Investigacion Clinica belong. Social, economic and political conflicts have led the collapse of all public services and consequently, the decision of a large number of professors to emigrate to other countries in search of better social and economic conditions. This diaspora carried away many of our distinguished collaborators. Although they try to continue to help from their final destinations, the poor situation of the communications in the country, with frequent failures in the electric power and internet, have led to a significant delay in the search for, and the response of referees, to evaluate the work of those authors that have relied in Investigacion Clinica, to publish their results. Finally, this has a profound effect on the final edition of the journal. However, being close to our 60th anniversary of uninterrupted publication, we are making all the possible efforts with all the means available to us in order to keep the scientific quality and the frequency required by the scientific indexes, now primarily, in digital form. We only hope that our authors, referees and readers be able to understand the situation and keep trusting our work.
