Producing the “molecules of life” from CO2 through hybrid catalytic relay
2021
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important feedstock for essential chemicals synthesis, but its transformation into biological macromolecules remains challenging. In a recent issue of Science, Ma et al. integrated chemical and enzymatic catalysis to convert CO2 into starch, a vital source of calories and feedstock in industry, with significantly higher efficiency than plants.
