4.7 – 5.1 μm Lasing in Cr2+,Fe2+:Zn1-xMnxSe (x ≈ 0.4) Single Crystal under 1.73 μm and 2.94 μm Pumping
2021
For several last years there is a strong demand on a development of laser systems based on transition metal ions operating in the mid-infrared spectral range of 4 – 5 μm. We present a laser system based on the Cr 2+ ,Fe 2+ :Zn 1-x Mn x Se (x ≈ 0.4) single crystal with a thickness of 2.6 mm synthesized by high pressure Bridgman method with active ions doping during the synthesis process. A ratio of Cr 2+ and Fe 2+ active ions concentrations in the crystal sample was approximately 1:1. The crystal without antireflective coatings on facets was placed into the liquid nitrogen cooled cryostat with CaF 2 windows and the laser cavity mirrors were placed closed outside the evacuated chamber.
