Pregnancy-associated atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome in the postpartum period: a case report and review of the literature
2011
Pregnancyhas been reported to be a trigger in about 10% of all patients with atypical
haemolytic uraemic syndrome(aHUS). However, in contrast to
pregnancy-associated thrombotic thrombocytopaenic purpura, the presentation of
pregnancy-associated aHUS remains ill defined and can therefore be difficult to diagnose and manage appropriately. Here we report a case of
pregnancy-associated relapse of aHUS in a patient with a previous
medical historyof aHUS prior to
pregnancy.
