Case studies toward smart communities

2020
Abstract To design smart cities or communities, it is important to realize good practices and integrated concepts related to smart buildings, mobility, and their interactions. Emerging information technologies, as well as those already implemented in cities, are driving significant change on people, communities, and living environments. In this chapter, we illustrate various existing ambitious projects on smart buildings (Vancouver, Canada), smart mobility (Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Vienna, Austria), climate-smart city design (Riga, Latvia), and building and mobility integrated spatiotemporally detail urban carbon mapping (Tokyo, Japan).
